In Tenzo, we upload your sales budget, so that you and your team may know at any given time how close you are to reaching it and plan your work consequently; a clear insight into what you need, when you need it.
For uploading your budget, just follow the steps on this guide.
Along the way, however, you may have some questions. Here are the most common ones:
1. Downloading the CSV Template
Before downloading the template, you should choose its settings.
1.1. Locations
You can choose as many or as little locations as you want. Just tick/untick them in the below field:
1.2. Data range
You can select the data range you wish in the second field:
1.3. Time Interval
After you set a data range, you can choose whether you are going to upload a Daily, Weekly or Monthly budget; this will define the way you will see your dates in the template:
If you choose to upload a weekly or monthly budget, Tenzo's algorithm will automatically split it by day based on the daily historical performance of each of your sites.
1.4. Choosing 1 or 2 columns
Before generating the template, you will be given the option to choose 1 or 2 columns. This can be useful if, for example, you want to explicitly load a budget including and excluding tax with a fixed % VAT amount (or with service charge, comps, or promos added back). However this is only optional.
2. Populating the CSV template
2.1. Opening template: text to column
When opening the CSV template you just downloaded, depending on the software you use and its settings, you may have to import the file in a specific way in order for it to look fine.
In Excel, go to Data > Text To Column:
Choose as Separator semi-colon ";" or comma "," depending on what is the symbol that you see between location name, dates, etc.
2.2. Adding data: right formatting
When adding the numbers to the template, please make sure that:
- You are using dots as the separator for decimals, and not commas;
- Date format is YYYY-MM-DD;
- There are no empty rows between populated rows;
- You don't put "-" on empty days; leave them empty or put "0".
3. Uploading Budget
3.1. Import settings
It is important to specify the settings of the budget you are uploading, especially with what regards Service Charge, Comps, Promos and Tax:
3.2. Split Monthly Budget into Daily
If you have more than 12 months' worth of historical data in Tenzo, then the Tenzo AI engine can break down a monthly or weekly budget into a daily budget for you, so you don't need to load a daily budget.
However this will only work efficiently assuming the available data is representative of a typical spread of sales throughout a 12 months period; for example, if last year your sales performance was affected by the pandemic and turned out to be very different from what it should normally be, then the AI engine will not be able to make an accurate prediction. In this case you can contact us and we will upload it in a different way on our back-end.
If you have any further questions about uploading budget, please don't hesitate to drop us an email at support@gotenzo.com and we will be happy to help you.
Happy Tenzo-ing!
