Within Tenzo you may have seen or heard about “Like for Like only” cards. They are cards that compare a metric against last year, typically by location, but will only include locations that were trading at the compare period last year.
This methodology ensures that your overall/total % change or year on year difference does not include locations that may have opened in less than the last 12 months, but that may make it look like you overall sales are up and “in the green”, whilst the individual location comparisons for locations that were open last year are in fact in the “red”.
There are two requirements for making a LFL Only card:
- Your Sales last year/sales compare field needs to have a default filter of “>” 0 (zero):
- Your Sales [this year/current period], need to have the same filter as well. This ensures that any locations that may have been open last year but are closed this year are also not included:
And now the card that you have made will only show locations that were open in both the current and the compare period only:
When making such a card we recommend adding a LFL Only suffix in the title to make it easier to understand why some locations may be excluded in this report.
Happy card building!
